Chianti Classico for a New Era
March 10 @ 6:00 pm MDT
Situated in the heart of Tuscany between the ancient rival cities of Siena and Florence lies the Chianti Classico DOCG — one of the most progressive and forward-thinking wine appellations in all of Europe. This is the realm of Sangiovese, and in the age of climate change, perhaps its best terroir. Mountainous, forested and largely protected from development, these ancient hills are delivering some of the freshest, most vital red wines in all of Italy.
For this March 10 class, I will be modifying my presentation from fall 2022 with insights gleaned from the Anteprima di Toscana — an annual fair held in Florence where the new vintages are released, tasted and analyzed. I’ll be in attendance this year, and will also visit three fundamentally important estates: Volpaia, I Fabbri and Castello di Monsanto.
Guests of this class are encourage to comparison taste an annata Chianti Classico (the entry level wine) with either a Riserva or Gran Selezione.
This class will begin at 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific time on March 10, 2024 and is open to paying subscribers and via special invite. If you are a paying subscriber, please log-in and register at the following link.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
