Inside a Compelling Tasting at the Festa del Chianti Classico
Frasca Hospitality Group
Born from the Boulder, Colorado restaurant of the same name — which Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and Chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson founded in 2004 — Frasca Hospitality Group (FHG) now encompasses six restaurants in Colorado, each centered on a unique aspect of Italian-style hospitality, cuisine and wine. In 2023, when the Michelin Guide first came to the Denver-Boulder area, everyone here knew that their O.G. restaurant — the Friulian-centric Frasca Food and Wine — would be the first to get a star. Sure enough, it was.
But beyond the accolades, FHG's restaurants are a haven for a wine lovers. Tavernetta at Denver's Union Station regularly hosts a who's who of Italian wine superstars for thematic dinners, while next door, Sunday Vinyl daily matches wine flights to music. A pizzeria in Boulder, an osteria in Engelwood and soon another Tavernetta in Vail, round out the roster.
The mood at these places, while high end, always feels convivial, which is no accident. Stuckey has long been vocal about restaurants offering a sanctuary of hospitality for guests. It's a very Italian concept: the act of dining together is more than just "eating out," it's reconnecting with community. Permeating an upscale dining room with this mood (and making it genuine) is a rather amazing feat.
In recent years, I've been fortunate to get to know Bobby and his Wine Director Carlin Karr a little bit better. We share insider tips on our travels and of course, bond over Italian wine. To have their support means a great deal to me. Below is an archive of articles connected to wine experiences I never would have had without them.
