For more than 50 years, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant has shaped how America's view the fine wines of France and Italy. In fact, one could argue that no other American has done more to educate our country on the virtues of "minimal intervention" winemaking than Mr. Lynch himself.

Today, the company he founded represents some of France and Italy's classic domaines, many of whom have been importing exclusively through KLWM for decades. But they also have an eye for the avant garde, all without losing sight of the simple tenant that the wines should be free of flaws.

Not only did Kermit Lynch redefine wine importing in America, he also wrote one of the greatest wine books in modern times, Adventures on the Wine Route, in 1988. We met for a 90-minute interview in 2022, the 50th anniversary of his company, and discussed everything from wine writing to natural wine and the flaws of appellation laws.
